Healthcare Sector in India

Healthcare as an industry in India has seen exponential growth over the past years. The same is affected by factors like increased life quality, demographics, and public awareness for proper medical care. However, the sector's growth is limited because of its reach, cost, and quality. Therefore, it is the need of the hour for the healthcare sector to focus on the three lags to make a global impact outside its archived efforts to combat the same.India's healthcare sector must also keep in mind that it is growing competition and must choose a stable industry path.

Make in India Initiative

The Government of India has undertaken several steps to mitigate the challenges faced by the healthcare sector. Bills, increasing foreign direct investments, and the biggest "Make in India" initiative plays a crucial role in getting India on track. The start-up, "Make in India," was implemented to adopt manufacturing in indigenous locations to increase affordability and accessibility.

The start-up focuses on manufacturing in India itself to, in turn, improve the overall health of the population with easy access to medical care. Training and advancing human skills is one of the main objectives to operate and serve the public effectively. Make in India also seeks to comply with standardized infrastructures backed with technology for a sustainable future.

Here are some of the main aspects of the Make in India initiative:

  • Establishing an innovative way of developing human resources and skills.

  • Identifying and establishing a market for medical instruments, appliances, surgical equipment, blood pressure kit, scanning apparatus, and other products.

  • Understanding the nature of importing and exporting and considering the same in the manufacturing process. Learning from established manufacturers is a good step for obtaining expert guidance.

  • Interacting with notable stakeholders is needed to get practical inputs on streamlining the medical care sector.

  • Framing policies and regulations to strengthen the healthcare sector.

  • Ensuring transparency with all stakeholders is vital for communication.

Conclusion

Today, India is still highly dependent on imported medical devices. However, indigenous manufactures are making small shifts in adding to bridge the gap between India's healthcare sector and the global market.
